Abstract wood sculpture “Point of Hold” — hand-carved walnut sculpture balancing movement and stillness in a single, concentrated gesture.

“Point of Hold” is a one-of-a-kind hand-carved walnut wood sculpture shaped around a moment of quiet tension — the instant when movement gathers inward and holds its weight.

I never begin with a sketch. I begin with wood — and I allow it to lead.

This form emerged as a more concentrated gesture. Instead of expanding outward, it draws energy inward — folding, holding, stabilizing. The lines are continuous and uninterrupted, guiding the eye along smooth transitions that feel intentional, yet not imposed.

I don’t carve wood. I carve what I feel — and the wood responds.

The surface is entirely refined — no rough textures, no interruptions. Light moves slowly across the planes, revealing subtle shifts between convex and concave forms. The sculpture changes quietly with perspective: from one side, it feels grounded and compact; from another, slightly lifted, almost weightless.

The walnut in this piece carries a strong internal drawing. Deep, natural veins run through warm amber tones, marking time and growth. Nothing here is added or disguised. The finish only reveals what was already present.

This is not decoration. It is a moment held in material.

Presence in space

“Point of Hold” works horizontally, extending across space with calm confidence. It doesn’t dominate — it stabilizes.

Placed on a console, sideboard, or low pedestal, it interacts with light throughout the day. Soft reflections move along the surface, subtly shifting its presence without changing its form.

It fits naturally into contemporary, minimalist, and Japandi interiors — especially where natural materials and quiet composition matter.
