The form opens to what is not there.
A passage carved through solid wood — holding space as much as matter.
Light enters, lingers, and leaves again.
The sculpture shifts between presence and absence depending on where you stand.
It is not loud.
It builds its presence slowly — through balance, through tension, through quiet structure.
The form was not planned.
I carve intuitively, allowing the wood to guide the process.
Each cut follows what the material allows — not what is imposed on it.
This piece was carved from a single block of old walnut wood.
Subtle, stabilized natural cracks remain visible beneath the surface —
not as flaws, but as traces of time held within the material.
The surface is smooth, refined to the touch,
while the structure remains honest to its origin.
As you move around it, the form shifts —
grounded on one side, more open and dynamic on the other.
“I don’t just carve wood. I carve what I feel — and the wood responds.”
