Held in Motion

A moment held between movement and stillness.
Carved intuitively from solid walnut, this one-of-a-kind sculpture emerges from the dialogue between my hand and the wood.

The form exists between movement and stillness — held in the moment just before it shifts.

There is tension within the structure,
between weight and lightness, between what is present and what has been removed.

The opening is not an addition, but a necessity.
It allows the form to breathe — to shift with light, to change as you move around it.

I don’t just carve wood. I carve what I feel — and the wood responds.

The form was not planned.
I carve intuitively, following the grain, the resistance, the direction the wood suggests.
Each cut emerges from the material itself — not imposed, but revealed.

On one side, the sculpture feels calm and contained.
From another, it becomes more dynamic — almost like a gesture paused mid-air.

I do not repeat forms.
Each piece is shaped in response to the moment and the material.

The walnut carries its own rhythm —
subtle tonal transitions, deeper contrasts within the inner cavity,
and a natural flow left uninterrupted.

The surface is refined to a smooth, tactile finish,
allowing light to move freely across it.
