Held Horizon — abstract wood vessel carved from solid ash, shaped intuitively through the natural movement of the grain.

The form is held close to the surface.
Low, grounded, and quiet — suspended between weight and stillness, between presence and restraint.

It was not planned.
Instead, I carved it intuitively, allowing the ash wood to guide the process while following its grain, its resistance, and its natural direction.

I don’t carve wood. I carve what I feel — and the wood responds.

The surface is shaped by contrast.
Between pale sapwood and deeper heartwood, the grain moves slowly across the form, shifting with light and perspective.

The outer surfaces remain smooth and calm,
while the inner opening draws the form inward, creating depth and focus. Because of this, the piece feels contained, yet open.

This abstract wood vessel is not decorative.
Rather, it reveals the natural structure of the material — its rhythm, its variation, and its tension.

The form stays close to the surface it rests on.
It does not rise. Instead, it settles.

At its centre, a small opening allows for a single branch or a minimal composition — or nothing at all.
As a result, the object remains flexible in use, yet complete on its own.

It does not seek attention.
Instead, it holds space.

Each piece I create is one of a kind, formed once through material, focus, and time.
