Quiet Rift

It does not break the surface.
It moves through it — quietly.

This one-of-a-kind hand-carved ash wood vase was shaped intuitively from a single block of solid wood. Its form remains calm and restrained, while a single flowing line of grain moves through it like a quiet fracture.

From the beginning, I did not follow a plan.
I worked entirely by hand, without sketches or predefined lines — allowing the structure of the wood to guide each decision. The form revealed itself gradually, but it was the grain that defined its character.

I don’t carve wood. I carve what I feel — and the wood responds.

Ash often appears understated at first glance.
Here, it becomes the central element of the piece. One side remains soft and almost still, while the other carries a stronger, wave-like movement — a natural contrast that introduces tension within a minimal form.

As the light changes, the surface shifts.
The grain becomes more visible, then softens again. The form never presents itself in the same way twice.

Finished with natural matte Osmo wax, the surface remains smooth and true to the material. No color was added — only what was already there has been revealed.

This sculptural wooden vase can hold dry branches or a single stem, allowing their line to extend the form.
At the same time, it stands complete on its own.

This is not a decorative object made to be repeated.
It is a single, unrepeatable gesture — shaped once, and never again.

Presence in space

At 27 cm tall, “Quiet Rift” carries a subtle but defined presence. It works naturally on a console, shelf, or table — especially in interiors where light and material are given space to speak.

Its calm form does not dominate.
Instead, it introduces rhythm through grain, proportion, and quiet contrast.

It pairs naturally with linen, stone, ceramics, and raw materials, fitting into minimalist, Japandi, and contemporary interiors.

You may place a single branch or leave it empty.
The form remains complete.
