Morphia

One-of-a-kind hand-carved walnut wood sculpture.
A dynamic, unfolding form shaped intuitively from a single block — balancing movement, tension, and natural grain.

Description

Morphia

It does not settle into one state. It shifts — between tension and release, between growth and form.

This one-of-a-kind hand-carved walnut sculpture was intuitively shaped from a single block of solid wood.

Its dynamic, unfolding form carries a sense of movement held in balance — something organic, yet defined.

From the beginning, I did not follow a plan.
I worked entirely by hand, without sketches or predefined lines — allowing the grain to guide the direction and rhythm.

The form emerged gradually, shaped through resistance, density, and internal structure of the wood.

I don’t carve wood. I carve what I feel — and the wood responds.

The surface moves between smooth planes and deeper carved recesses.

Light travels across it continuously — revealing softer transitions in some areas and sharper tensions in others.

From every angle, the sculpture shifts its character.

Finished with natural Osmo matte wax, the surface remains protected while staying fully true to the material.

The walnut reveals a full spectrum of tones — from warm, lighter hues to deeper, grounded browns.

This sculpture does not depend on context.
It defines its own space.

This is not a decorative object made to be repeated.
It is a single, unrepeatable gesture — shaped once, and never again.

Presence in space

At 46 cm in height, this abstract wood sculpture carries a grounded yet dynamic presence.

It works naturally on a console, pedestal, or in an open space where it can be viewed from multiple angles.

Its form interacts strongly with light, making it especially responsive to changing daylight conditions.

It pairs well with natural materials — stone, linen, raw textures — and fits within minimalist, Japandi, and contemporary interiors.
