Description
Rebirth
“Rebirth” — a one-of-a-kind hand-carved walnut wood sculpture, shaped from decayed wood and transformed into a form of quiet renewal.
This piece is a one-of-a-kind hand-carved walnut sculpture crafted from wood that had already reached the end of its natural life.
Fragile, hollow, marked by decay — at first glance, it seemed unusable.
Yet this is exactly what drew me in.
I carved the form open, allowing the emptiness inside to become its center.
What was once soft and perishable gave way to the solid structure that remained.
I don’t carve wood. I carve what I feel — and the wood responds.
The surface was shaped and refined by hand, then finished with natural matte wax — as if the material had passed through a quiet process of renewal.
Now it is no longer a fragment of a dying tree, but a new form — calm, grounded, and transformed.
Its hollow interior is no longer a flaw, but a presence.
It gives meaning to the entire structure.
Depending on the angle, the sculpture shifts between a defined form and an open, almost weightless gesture.
There is no single front — only a changing perception.
My sculptures are not decorations. They are quiet moments, solidified.
Presence in space
“Rebirth” is mounted on a natural black slate base with raw edges, which grounds the form and emphasizes its vertical movement. The contrast between the wood’s refined surface and the stone’s raw texture creates a balanced tension.
At 46 cm in height, this abstract wood sculpture carries a grounded yet dynamic presence. It works naturally on a console, pedestal, or in an open space where it can be viewed from multiple angles. Its form interacts strongly with light, making it especially responsive to changing daylight conditions. It pairs well with natural materials — stone, linen, raw textures — and fits within minimalist, Japandi, and contemporary interiors.
