Soul of the Tree

“Soul of the Tree” is a one-of-a-kind hand-carved apple wood sculpture — a vertical form shaped between tension and stillness. Movement has already happened here. What remains is its trace.

I carved it entirely intuitively, without sketches or plans.

Applewood led the process. It is dense, warm, and quietly complex. Under my tools, it revealed both resistance and softness, as if holding something deeper beneath the surface.

Each cut followed the material. Each curve emerged slowly — through carving, sanding, and time spent listening rather than forcing.

This form rises, but it does not strive.
It feels rooted, even in its movement — like something that grew inward before reaching upward.

The contrast between the soft outer surfaces and the deeper carved interior creates a subtle rhythm. Light moves along the edges. It settles in the hollows. Throughout the day, the form shifts with it.

It never fully reveals itself at once.

This is not a decorative object.
It is a presence that holds its own silence.

I don’t carve wood. I carve what I feel — and the wood responds.

Presence in space

At 54 cm tall, “Soul of the Tree” carries a strong vertical presence without heaviness.

It works naturally in spaces that benefit from structure and calm — on a console, pedestal, or architectural surface where light can move freely across the form.

Its proportions draw the eye upward. The grounded base stabilizes the composition.

It pairs especially well with natural materials — wood, linen, stone — and interiors that value space over excess.

It doesn’t fill the space.
It anchors it.
