Hidden Heart is a one-of-a-kind hand-carved cherry wood vase whose quiet form gradually reveals something unexpected. At first it feels familiar, almost timeless. Only when light enters through its small opening does the hidden interior begin to appear, quietly exposing the detail that inspired its name.
Carved from a single piece of solid cherry wood, it is designed to hold fresh flowers, sculptural branches, or a single stem. A removable glass tube is hidden inside the wooden body, allowing water to remain invisible while preserving the warmth and natural character of the wood.
Process & Material
I never begin with sketches or fixed plans.
Every sculpture and every vase begins simply as a piece of wood waiting to reveal its own possibilities. Rather than forcing an idea onto the material, I respond to its grain, density, and changing character, allowing each decision to grow naturally from the previous one.
Hidden Heart was carved entirely by hand from a single block of cherry wood.
The form remained intentionally restrained. Instead of adding complexity, I gradually removed everything that felt unnecessary until only balanced proportions and a few quiet details remained.
The gentle vertical carvings change with the light throughout the day, while a discreet opening allows a glimpse into the hidden interior. Inside rests the removable glass tube—the functional centre of the vase and the detail that ultimately gave the piece its name.
Cherry wood brings its own quiet warmth to the work. Its soft grain and honey-coloured tones respond beautifully to natural light, gradually developing even greater depth as the wood matures over time.
The surface is finished with matte Osmo Polyx-Oil, preserving the tactile quality of the wood while protecting it for everyday use.
Presence in Space
Hidden Heart does not dominate a room.
Its presence is gentle and almost architectural, bringing calm rather than demanding attention.
Placed on a wooden shelf, a stone console, or a simple table, it quietly changes character throughout the day as light moves across its carved surface. A single branch becomes part of the composition, while the hidden opening occasionally catches the eye, inviting a second look.
Even without flowers, the vase remains complete.
It becomes an object that encourages observation, revealing its hidden centre only gradually—like something discovered rather than displayed.
Authenticity
Each Hidden Heart vase is carved entirely by hand from a single piece of sustainably sourced cherry wood.
No templates, CNC machines or artificial reproductions are ever used.
This is the only Hidden Heart that will exist.
The vase is signed and dated by the artist and arrives with a Certificate of Authenticity.
The photographs show the exact piece you will receive, captured in natural light without AI-generated renders or digitally created interiors.
