Almost Free is a one-of-a-kind hand-carved abstract wood sculpture in solid walnut — a wood sculpture shaped at the edge of release, where tension begins to turn into movement.

I carved this piece intuitively, without sketches or predefined plans. I started with a single block of wood and followed its grain, resistance, and quiet direction. The form emerged gradually — not designed, but discovered.

There was a moment in the process when the shape began to open.
Not fully. Not completely. But enough to suggest a shift — a subtle pull upward, a gesture that feels like it wants to rise, to look beyond itself.

I don’t carve wood. I carve what I feel — and the wood responds.

The upper part of the sculpture softens and lifts, while the lower structure remains grounded. This tension between movement and stillness defines the entire piece.

Openings allow light to pass through the form, creating depth and changing its perception depending on where you stand. From one angle, it feels calm and contained. From another, it becomes more open — almost searching.

There is no single front.
The shadows it casts extend the sculpture beyond its physical boundaries, becoming part of the composition.

This abstract wood sculpture does not settle into a fixed interpretation. It invites movement — both in space and in perception.

This is not a decorative object.
It is a quiet moment, solidified.

Presence in space

Almost Free works as a freestanding wood sculpture — compact in scale, but visually active.

It fits naturally on a console, shelf, or pedestal, especially in interiors where light plays an important role. The open structure interacts with its surroundings, allowing shadows to shift throughout the day.

It pairs well with minimalist, contemporary, and Japandi interiors, where a single object can define the atmosphere of a space.
